How to Apply for an Opportunity at A Space Gallery

Participating in an opportunity at A Space Gallery is simple and can be done in two ways.

Method 1: Online Application Form

  • Step 1: Visit the A Space Gallery website and navigate to the ‘Opportunities’ section where you will find the application form.

  • Step 2: Fill out the application form with all required information, including personal details, artistic background, and details about your work.

  • Step 3: At the end of the form, you will be prompted to pay the application fee. Complete the payment directly within the form to finalize your submission.

  • Step 4: Submit the completed form. You will receive a confirmation email once your application has been successfully received.

Method 2: Email Submission

  • Step 1: First, visit the online store of A Space Gallery to purchase the application fee. Save the receipt or proof of payment as you will need to attach it to your email.

  • Step 2: Prepare your application materials, which should include:

    • Your full name, city/country, and email address.

    • A brief biography and artist statement.

    • High-quality images of your artwork or direct links to video pieces.

    • Proof of payment for the application fee.

  • Step 3: Create a single compressed folder (.zip or .rar) that contains all the documents and images.

  • Step 4: Email the compressed folder to aspacecastello@gmail.com. Include "Application for [Name of Opportunity]" in the subject line.

  • Step 5: You will receive an email confirmation acknowledging receipt of your application.

 

Additional Information:

  • Make sure all documents and images are clearly labeled with your name and the title of the artwork to ensure everything is easily identifiable.

  • Check that all links to video works are working and accessible without a password.

Deadline:

  • Be mindful of the deadline for each opportunity. Late submissions will not be accepted, and it is crucial to ensure your application is complete and submitted on time.

  • We sincerely appreciate every application submitted to our gallery. Each is reviewed meticulously, taking into account the current themes, programs, and exhibition capacities of our space. It's important to note that not receiving an invitation to exhibit does not reflect a judgment on the quality of your work. Our exhibition opportunities are often limited by space and timing rather than the merit of the artworks received. We respect and commend the creative courage every application represents and keep a record of all artists' achievements for potential future opportunities.

Inspired by the Venice Carnival’s rich traditions and resonating with the Biennale’s theme of "Foreigners Everywhere," this event offers artists a profound platform to delve into their personal journeys and societal roles. Event Overview: Masks have been used throughout history not only to conceal but also to seek out true identity. In the context of Carnival Biennale Mask, the mask serves as a powerful metaphor for the exploration of self and the boundaries imposed by societal expectations. This event challenges artists to use this symbol to navigate and express the complex layers of personal authenticity and the roles they play within the tapestry of societal norms. Why Participate? Explore Personal and Social Identity: Engage deeply with themes of authenticity and the societal roles often imposed upon us, using art as a medium to explore and challenge these constructs. This competition is inspired by the rich cultural heritage of the Venice Carnival and ties into the Venice Biennale’s overarching theme, "Foreigners Everywhere," encouraging a deeper exploration of personal authenticity and societal roles. Eligibility: Open to all artists worldwide, regardless of their formal artistic education or background. Artists can submit works in various media including, but not limited to, painting, sculpture, photography, digital art, and performance art. Submission Guidelines: Each artist is allowed to submit one artwork that has not been previously exhibited. Submissions must include a title, a brief description of the work (no more than 300 words), and an explanation of how it relates to the theme of masks and identity. Digital images of the artwork should be submitted in high resolution (at least 300 dpi). Video or performance artists should submit a link to a hosted video (no longer than 5 minutes). Participation Fee: A non-refundable fee of €100 must accompany each submission. This fee covers administrative costs and ensures that the contest is judged fairly and professionally. Participation in a Collective Exhibition at A Space Galery:Finalists will have the chance to showcase their works in a collective exhibition. This is an excellent opportunity to gain exposure among gallery visitors, including collectors, critics, and fellow artists. The collective exhibition also serves as a platform for exchanging experiences and establishing valuable contacts within the artistic community. The artists will have their work featured in a collective exhibition at A Space Gallery, running from October 25 to November 13. In addition to the exhibition, some winners will receive a professional portfolio review and feedback session with one of the event’s curators. Chosen artists might be invited to solo and group projects in the gallery in the future.
